Slayer on a Sunny Day

A 1 track indie rock single (3m 2s) — released December 21st 2023 on Audio Antihero

My Best Unbeaten Brother is a new band from Ben and Adam Parker and Ben Fry. These are the first new recordings from the Parker brothers (Nosferatu D2, Tempertwig, and The Superman Revenge Squad Band) since 2013's "There Is Nothing More Frightening Than the Passing of Time" and the first new songs from Ben Parker (Superman Revenge Squad / The Jonbarr Hinge) since 2015. Their work has been the subject of radio stories from Public Radio International and BBC 6 Music.

Originally taken from Joyzine's "20 Years of Joy Vol. 2" compilation, "Slayer on a Sunny Day" is a non-album promo track ahead of their 2024 debut.

Previous praise for the Parker Brothers has included:

"Some kind of alchemy, not to be repeated – a mix of tension, bitterness, and a way with lyrics that no one has, or will, match – 9/10."Drowned In Sound

"Perfect in their hopelessness."Pitchfork

"Nosferatu D2 are one of my favourite bands of all time. Some of the best, most hateful lyrics you'll ever hear."Gareth Campesinos! (Los Campesinos!)

"Your record collection is incomplete without its inclusion."The Line of Best Fit

"As giddily hypnotic as they are unsettling."NME

"An emotional rollercoaster laced with blaspheme and romantic despair – 8/10."DIY Mag

"For great musicianship and lyrical brilliance this is the place."Chris Chinchilla (Art Brut)

"A lo-fi masterpiece – 9/10."The Digital Fix

"It may have been written almost twenty years ago, yet listening to this collection, Tempertwig feel like they were not a band who ever really tried to fit in, as such they sound as fresh and intriguing now as they ever did."For The Rabbits

"Melancholic, tired anger…classic Parker brothers, the vulnerable honesty balanced with an unceasing self-consciousness, the cost of trying to communicate candidly in a culture that Mark Fisher labels 'capitalist realism'—where everything has long since been used up and commodified, and nothing new can emerge."Various Small Flames

"Angled hooks, mathematical elasticity, and unbridled ferocity, the Parker brothers are the lost pioneers of the indie-emo scene."Cereal and Sounds

"It's a cliché to say that the Parkers were ahead of their time – but it's certainly true that the songs on FAKE NOSTALGIA are as relevant now as when they were recorded almost twenty years ago."Beautiful Freaks

"The music of Tempertwig is damp, gloomy post-punk a la Arab Strap. However, the bleakness of the music doesn't come at the expense of some truly chilling lyrical narratives and emotive vocal deliveries."The Alternative

"15 years after they ceased operations, Tempertwig still sound fresh and transgressive. Parker sings "Fake nostalgia makes me sick" but I can't feign nostalgia for something I never knew existed. Instead I'll just revel in something new and exciting. In an overproduced world Fake Nostalgia sounds naïve, rebellious, and compellingly authentic."Muso's Guide

"There's something so special about 'There is Nothing More Frightening…' It's a record which deserves wider recognition, but will likely hold a special place only to those few fortunate enough to have come into contact with it. I for one am truly glad that I am one of those."Gold Flake Paint

"Once again Ben has created a body of work that many listeners will find instant kinship with. These are tales infused with a humour and vivacity that few other songwriters can touch."The Line of Best Fit

"…Practically bursts with melodic ideas thrumming off of tense accordions and wandering saxophones. In one way it sounds like Parker has gone off the deep end finally, but in another it is pure genius. You may recall we've done things like proclaim Parker England's greatest contemporary lyricist, or characterize him here as "startlingly talented," all of which still holds true."Clicky Clicky Music
