Nightshade
A 3 track singer-songwriter single (10m 21s) — released September 26th 2025 on Audio Antihero
The Noisy have announced 'The Secret Ingredient is Even More Meat,' a deluxe edition of their acclaimed debut album. Released on October 24th via Audio Antihero (Frog /Avery Friedman /Magana /CIAO MALZ), this expanded collection features new and reimagined songs from the Philadelphia-based group and will be accompanied by a series of new music videos. "Nightshade" is the third single from the collection.
The album campaign was launched with the "Twos" video, which was released in the last week of Pride month and took the form of a vampy silent movie. Starring and featuring practical effects by Philly drag talent, "Twos" channelled gothic-glam in the spirit of vintage cinema, dripping with theatrical flair and midnight movie camp. It was followed in August by "Grenadine," a more nostalgic and scrappy celebration of queer community.
Fronted by poet Sara Mae Henke(they/them), The Noisy has built a loyal following in Philadelphia's music scene, as well as in drag and fashion through collaborations with artists like Miss Thing, Avery Goodname (Camp Wannakiki), Wet Betty, and Jasmine Schulte (designer for Mannequin Pussy, Pom Pom Squad) for music video cameos, live variety show performances, and countless fabulous looks. This blend of music, performance art and queer nightlife make The Noisy a visual experience as much as a sonic one. In spring 2023, The Noisy released "Morricone" with a Strega Nona-meets-Clint Eastwood music video and launched a successful crowdfunding campaign for their debut album,The Secret Ingredient is More Meat, produced by Jacob Lawter (Slow and Steady) and in collaboration with Josh Sorrells (Easy Does It), Ash Baker (Bugs Baker), and Nyleen Perez (Pueblo Now).
The original release of the album was accompanied by videos for "Violet Lozenge," "Backlit," and the Suspiria-influenced "Ballerino," which saw the band receive significant acclaim from outlets like WXPN, Post-Trash, The Alternative, Atwood Magazine, WKDU, and more.
Loaded with new material, the aptly titled 'The Secret Ingredient is Even More Meat' features reimaginings of "Tony Soprano" and "Neckline," the original single version of "Morricone,"a radio session for New York's WVKR, and "Nightshade,"an unreleased new song.
In addition to the upcoming deluxe reissue, The Noisy are currently working on LP2, while Sara Mae also recently published their award-winning second poetry chapbook, 'Phantasmagossip,' through YesYes Books, which they promoted with a multi-state reading tour.

Praise for The Noisy:
"Dynamic sound, charming energy, and a confessional tell-all spirit that's as charismatic as it is irresistible." – ATWOOD MAGAZINE
"Glamorous, retro, and proudly queer." – WXPN
"The Noisy's sound isn't exactly noisy in the abrasive sense, but it is boisterous, embracing the crunch of grungy pop rock and the twang of Sara Mae's Knoxville roots to create a muscular and freely associated alt-country belter." – POST-TRASH
"Rich, polished pop-rock sound with pieces of dream/chamber pop, synth pop, and even a bit of electric alt-rock thrown in."– ROSY OVERDRIVE
"The Noisy's Sara Mae is building a queer Dream-Pop universe." – MUSICNGEAR
"It sounds really formative. Being "sixteen and see-through" is such a vulnerable feeling, one that "Grenadine" captures really well." – THE ALTERNATIVE
"Their work examines the surreal, the uncanny, body horror, and intimacy....Their album The Secret Ingredient is More Meat is an intoxicating experience." – RAINBOW RODEO
"The strident rhythm, and big vocal hooks owe more to the perfect pop of Lissie – and by association, the mighty Fleetwood Mac – and the marriage of the two disparate styles creates a great crossover sound. With enough fuzz to please the retro alternative set and enough optimism in a great vocal to catch the ear of the alt-pop crowd, this is a guitar driven work out that could become an underground smash." – REAL GONE
"Unconventional at every turn, with Sara Mae's background as a poet coming through in their unique, free-form writing style." – TROPICAL GOTH MAG
