The Superman Revenge Squad Band is the latest outing from Ben Parker of the heavily acclaimed Nosferatu D2 (Drowned In Sound/Pitchfork/BBC 6 Music/BBC Radio 1/XFM/FM4/PRI's "The World"/The Line Of Best Fit/NME/The 405/This Is Fake DIY), his first release under the name save for a series of self-releases. Despite this low-key approach, his Alternative Folk-Esque musings have been highly praised by the blogosphere and the BBC, with a plethora of great reviews and airplay/interviews, he was even given the oppoortnity to support Jeffrey Lewis twice in one day.
"A Funny Thing You Said" is the leading single from The Superman Revenge Squad Band's debut albun "There Is Nothing More Frightening Than The Passing Of Time," the first recorded output from Ben Parker's big-band Superman Revenge Squad expansion, layering his stream-of-conscious lyrical onslaughts with saxophone, drums (courtesy of Nosferatu D2's Adam Parker), cello, keyboard, guitar and accordion. FYI, the single's sketched artwork is influenced by Lucio Fulci's "The Beyond."
Audio Antihero Records kicked off the label with Nosferatu D2's sole LP and on their tenth release they reunite with Ben Parker and Adam Parker for a wildly unique and intelligent album.
